Father’s House

This painting was inspired by the conflict between Ukraine and Russia and the deep emotions many of us feel about home and faith at its core is the image of a woman in the role of the Madonna gently holding a fragile house in her hands a symbol of protection and the need to keep what is precious safe most striking are the domes of Kyiv on the left and the silhouette of St Basil’s Cathedral in Moscow on the right showing the tension between two cultures and histories I chose oil on canvas because it offers rich color and depth and brings warmth and softness to the image the painting invites viewers to reflect on strength vulnerability and the quiet power of belonging
